Beat Bama

We have been busy bees traveling the past couple of weekends. This past weekend, we got to travel home to Knoxville. We blamed it on the Tennessee/Alabama game...but really we just missed my family and friends!

We didn't beat Bama...but we did have some fun!

happy birthday mom!

nothing like ending the night with a s'more
tailgating with some missed friends!

gah ive missed them

come visit us!!!!!
and really is there anything like Neyland Stadium? I got tears in my eyes. I think I have been to at least one game every year since I was two. If I had missed this just because we moved to  Wisconsin...I would not be a happy girl, win or lose!

This week we will be cheering on Ty's Spartans in Madison as the University of Wisconsin plays Michigan State...look for us on row 1 :)

Chi-town

Well we felt like royalty this weekend in Chicago...and it was all by random chance! We had been planning a weekend get away to Chicago for a couple of weeks just because we live so close, why not? So we decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency...just so happens that my sweet aunt Kim knew the manager and told him we were coming! When we got there, they announced we were their VIP guests (to this we were shocked and had no clue what to do!) They upgraded us to a room a lot fancier than what we had paid for! No complaining here...

We were just as shocked when the concierge brought us wine and cheese with a note from the manager. After this...he realized we looked young and asked for our IDs...Obviously Tyler's 3 day grown beard didn't work!

Our view

superr excited
We decide to go down to Wrigley field and eat at a place we saw on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives on the food network. We were so glad we listened!!!

DMK Burger Bar

Just can't go wrong with burgers, sweet potato fries, fried pickles, AND fried okra.

We loved this area around where the Cubs play..cute little restaurants and shops and houses I would LOVE to live in. Couldn't be more than a couple million dollars?

Tyler was craving some football as well because Michigan State was playing (who he has loved since he was little thanks to Timmy!). Apparantly in Chicago, they have a bar for every college football team. The Michigan State bar was right beside the burger place! We caught the end of the game there.

Sadly, they lost in two overtimes.

But we didn't let that get us down! We explored Chicago and walked just about everywhere. Unfortunately the weather was not perfect, but we didn't mind too much.
We also decided while here...we want to live here. Just for a year.

On Saturday night, we met Maren and Steve and some of their friends! Steve is a manly man and ran the Urban Athalon that morning in Chi-town. Came in first (in my heart) go Steve!!

In our sweeet hotel
And you can't come to Chicago and NOT get pizza. Of course...
Unfortunately I only took pics on the iphone...you cannot see the waterfall of delicious cheese

The celebrity stalker I am...I heard Pete Wentz and Perez Hilton opened a club near our hotel. I rallied the troops to go..but it was so small we couldn't even walk in!

Most importantly, the Vols were on. We found a little place where we begged the workers to put our game on and we saw just enough! Sad night, we'll get 'em against Bama! :)

We had to sleep off our loss..the next morning we got up early and walked down Magnificent mile to a cute little breakfast place.

Top of the mornin to ya!
So anyways...we love Chicago. I think we have been once a month for each month we have lived in Milwaukee (3). Maybe we will live here one day..or maybe we will just visit as much as can!!

Apple Crisp

The farmer's market had delicious apples a couple of Saturdays ago, so we bought a whole barrel. Tyler has claimed his favorite dessert is apple crisp/apple pie. Even though I have never even made it! So I knew what I had to do with all of these apples!

Apple Crisp

(serves 4)
3 thinly sliced sour apples (I used some similar to granny smith, but a little sweeter)
1  C brown sugar
1/4 C flour
1/2 C quick oats
1/2 C butter, room temp
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon

Place apples in a greased dish. Mix the rest of ingredients together with a spatula. Place in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

Serve warm and with a scoop of ice cream!

Punkin Pickin

Here is a little peak of some pumpkin picking in Wisconsin. This particular farm we went to was something like a pumpkin patch meets Gatlinburg all on one farm. (Tennessee folks picture it).
They made beer and football shaped cheese at the general store.
Oh and cow shaped. Utters included
Massive pumpkins
This extravaganza happened with our super cool neighbors.
If you weren't aware, Tyler deems himself as a professional pumpkin picker around this time every year.
As am I.
The final pick! Before the hayride from hell...

We figured out that hayrides sound like a blast, right? What's not to love about sitting on top of a trailer...attached to a tractor...on top of hay in the middle of fall. Well real life...its more like its 32 degrees out and hay is flying in your eyes along with exhaust fumes so you just close your eyes and ask when its going to be over?!

But there was one positive about the hay ride...it took us to the donut shack.
Nothin like a hot apple cider donut!
And to end on a sappy note...first time pumpkin picking about this same time in 2010! Misss yall

In our younger days
And now this weekend we are leaving America's Dairyland (its written on Wisconsin license plates) and going to the Windy City of Chicago for the weekend! WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Happy Weekend :)

Needtobreathe

Friday night after work we had a little date night at the Pabst Theater in downtown Milwaukee. We went to see Needtobreathe with Parachute and Drew Holcomb. They were SO good! We had to wait in line a little bit to get in...while it was 33 degrees outside with wind blowing from this river. I am told to enjoy this weather because it is actually not bad from what I hear!

 I love this view

waiting/freezing
Needless to say...we were not prepared clothing wise for this coldness. So I went and bought two new super warm jackets today! I can't complain that this crazy weather allows me to get more clothes :)

so good
